I’ve been writing for my friend Lyle’s blog lately. He’s a SICK dancer and choreographer; head on over to check out some of my posts. I sign my posts “SP” (my middle initials).
While you’re there, take a look at his videos. You’ll pee your pants.

VIDEO: Sheryl Sandberg on the Work-Life Balance →
How a career woman can have it all. This is one smart lady. Let’s get crackin’ on changing those social standards, shall we?
creativevictuals:
Another good interview with Sheryl Sandberg on the importance of a balanced partnership. (I object with that Business Insider title, by the way — isn’t that attitude half the problem?)

Oh, gorgeous. I’d even put prints of these photos on my wall.
From Super Rural.
Um, I just had to take a second to let y’all know that cross-stitching is still as bad-ass as ever. Or, way more bad-ass than it’s ever been before.
First 4 pieces by La Gidgette, 5th and 6th by Steph Hart, 7th and 8th by Cindy Steiler.
Ha! I love these. Artist Dale Edwin Murray is one talented dude.

I always get stuck thinking that I need the “right” materials to make something impressive; Shane McAdams proves me wrong. These were made with ball point pen. YES. True. Wuttt?

Raoul Paulet
I’ve blogged about Raoul Paulet’s beautiful animation before, but I felt that it was also my duty to share his impressive design with you. So here. Because you’re worth it.
(The NINELEVEN poster just gets to me. It’s so quiet, yet says so much.)
There’s also this amusingly risqué*, 5 second short of his. Best use of time, ever.
*By the way, I just...
As part of its Common Threads scheme, Patagonia offers to repair its clothes...
– Patagonia asks its customers to buy less, to think forward. Nobody[company] is perfect, but I admire Patagonia’s efforts to do the best they can.

Such lush, vibrant, creative embroidery by MaricorMaricar. I want to drink that “J” right up. Pretty sad that I missed out on the “Gusto Gusto!” piece, but if you want the “B,” you can still get it here. I’m also having fun reading their blog.

The Family We Choose
I’ve been in LA for coming on to two years now, and while I’ve met some very nice, incredibly talented people, there’s just nobody like the people with whom you stumbled through college. Hours of eating junk food, watching SYTYCD, dance rehearsal (with tears of frustration and epic celebrations of wins), late night monument walks, sleeping at 7am and waking up at 3pm...

Artists New To Me: Lee Bul
Two and a half years ago, I walked into the W Hotel Hong Kong and was floored by these chandeliers hovering over the tiny gift shop. They were so delicate, yet enormous and substantial at the same time. They twisted and turned ever so slowly, looking like jewel-encrusted alien cocoons. I was entranced. I was curious to know who had made them, but the woman manning the gift shop had no idea.

In a total departure from the norm (ha), I love all the delicate lines in Lisa G Bauer’s artwork. And her use of color. And her sometimes-funny, sometimes-totally-weird-and-incomprehensible titles.

CONSTANTLY CURIO.US: Good Design on Your Platform →
Well put.
jacksonlatka:
I couldn’t agree more with Marco on this:
How to bring good design to a platform
1. Demonstrate from the top that high quality and attention to detail are prioritized and appreciated above everything else, including being the first to market, having the most features, or having the most aggressive prices. If you can get those as well, that’s great, but quality will...

I don’t know if he created all these dances — some of these aren’t even named properly — but hell I love watching him do them. Boy can MOVE.
