Put A Ring On It
An obvious post title. I was convinced, when I was young, that I would accept only an opal engagement ring. Diamonds seemed plain and ordinary. Who cares if they were worth more? Everybody wants diamonds. I poo-pooed the idea and applauded myself for being original. I was an idiot, of course; diamonds are SPARKLY. Aside from the sociocultural question of why engagement rings are of such...

When I Grow Up
My friend Joey is a huge (and by huge I mean he will buy anything and everything she ever puts out/touches/breathes on, and is friends with her entire family) Kina Grannis fan, and sent me this link to this poster done by DKNG. She has a song titled “Stars Falling Down,” and I think this poster is a perfect fit for her simple and sweet musical style. The other posters by DKNG are...

Papyrophile: Bovey Lee
A few reasons to love artist Bovey Lee: 1) She named this piece “Atomic Jellyfish.” It took 4 months and 98 X-acto blades to cut. And, I love jellyfish. 2) She’s from Hong Kong, and now lives in Pittsburgh. Half my family is from Hong Kong and I love it. I’m also from Pittsburgh. 3) HER WORK IS AMAZING. All of her paper cuts are on Chinese rice paper. Those...
